Default Eldar Farseer Basic Tactica

Eldar Farseer Basic Tactica

The farseer is the single most potent psyker in the 40k universe. His powers while some may see as feble, are an incredible boost to the army. The only overtly offensive powers they have are mind war (Incredibly powerful) and Eldrich Storm (useful) while the resh of his powers are support natured. And that is where he really shines.

Wargear:
Ghost Helm:
This is an amazing piece of wargear that when when combined with seer stones and runes of witnessing is even more amazing. His ability to almost ignore perils of the warp makes him much more survivable than any other psyker in the game.

Rune Armor
Better than armor. It has no armor save but gives an Invulnerable one instead.

Runes of Warding
Great against any army except tyranids. As it has the same effect against them as shadow of the warp has against you.

Runes of Witnessing
Amazing piece of wargear. The benefit truly comes when you are playing against nids with the “Shadow of the Warp” as this negates that effect and that negates this effect making you a normal psyker. And you don’t have perils of the warp at all!

Spirit Stones.
The power to cast 2 powers in a single turn is amazing especially when you see the combos of powers you can use.

Witch blade:
An amazing CC weapon. He operates as S9 vs vehicles!

Ok, on to the Psychic Powers. What Really Make a farseer GREAT!

DOOM
My personal Favorite 24” of Re-Rolling Death!!!!!!
Eldrich Storm
Has it’s uses, but the relative lack of power as compared to the rest of the Eldar’s Weapons systems is what seems to cause It’s most disuse.
Do not overlook it on that alone however because it has 1 side effect that make’s it completely Atrocious. It the the single most UGLY anti-vehicle tactic that any elder can take ever. 2d6 +3 pen = meh, You get to change it’s facing= YAAY, and if you “HIT” you get to pick it’s facing = HELS YEAH!!!!!!
Oh, and it pins.
Fortune
This is a VERY expensive power, but can save a unit at times. I would only recommend taking it if you have the farseer mounted on jetbikes and have some guardians and warlocks with him. Then it becomes simply NASTY
Guide
Again like fortune it has a very short range, but when used correctly you have a mass of death and destruction!
Combine it with doom and you get to re-roll hits and wounds!!!!!
Mind War
I could spend hours talking about the uses of this gem, but it all boils down to this:
1. It is Bad A**
2. It can KILL an IC in a single turn
3. It Ignores most targeting restrictions
4. It is Bad A**

Now that I have covered the psychic powers I can tell you how to use them

Mind War
If the far seer is mounted on a jetbike there is just about nothing that can stop this from being EXTREEMLY effective. You need line of sight, get line of sight, you need to be within 18” get within 18”.
That pesky vindicare is picking off your IC’s Crush his mind!
Yup, as long as he is unengaged, the Farseer can crush him!

Guide & Doom
Mount your farseer on a jetbike, take seer stones, attach 3 warlocks with singing spears and 3 guardians on jetbikes and you can almost rule the shooting phase.
Seriously, re-roll to hit, re-roll to wound and you throw your singing spears around. Nothing that I can think of can survive un-damaged.

Eldrich Storm
Your enemy’s Armored company harassing you? Sling it and all of a sudden his line is not facing the correct direction anymore!!!! Throw in some Fire Dragons and you will likely get a few side/rear shots in with melta guns!!!

Fortune & Guide
A farseer with retinue of Warlocks marching up the board get to re-roll their invulnerable saves and get to re-roll their singing spear to hit rolls. Or destructor template rolls or whatever you give them. VERY UGLY.

There are many more combo’s but you can figure the others out for yourself!

a fun combination is doom + eldritch storm... most opponent's will laugh at the idea of S3. they'll start crying however when you re-roll those dice!
as anyone who's watched their lines buckle to orky bikers and their psycho-blastas rule know, absolutely anything re-rolled is deadly effective!
of corse, the single best reason to take doom is because you get to say it in nice deep voice!

i honestly however wouldn't use eldritch storm to spin a vehicle your dragons are after though... with ap1, the dragons don't typically need any help to kill tanks.
instead, spin that tank that's trying to flank say, your guardian squad and their scatter laser platform! sure S6 won't hurt the front armour of a predator... it'll slice through the side or rear armour like a warm knife through butter though!

cheers!

you should try fortune with a avatar throw in dome and no enemy can stop him

I was thinking of doing that as well. Have the farseer go up behind the avatar, blocking enemy LoS from the front anyways.
