| greetings all ![]() as i've been off the tourny scene for a bit now, i'm wondering if any other tourny players here have run into the eldar 'flying circus' yet and if the tales about it's brutalness are true? basically, it's set-up similar to such: farseer w/doom & fortune 3x shadowseer + 5 clowns w/harlie kiss 2x 5 pathfinders 3x falcons w/star cannon & full upgrades so, has anyone faced this yet and what weaknesses tend to show in this list? how would *you* go about beating it?! as i'm looking at soon getting back into tournament play, i have grown a bit leery of facing this type of army as it seems to be getting more and more popular sadly... cheers!

| extreme fire power from the bassies and millions of lazgun shots will take anything out. although thats true for any enemy the guard faces. i guess would be a good idea is to just try and get as many insta death hits as you can and take alot of autocannons and heavy bolters. something is bound to hit eventually |

| blow the falcons out of the sky first off... then take down the slogging clowns. harliquins have really bad armour, thats their main weakness. another weakness in that army is the increadibly low numbers for a tournament. |

| dan: the problem is of corse the shadowseer... he/she/it limits your visability to about 12-14" or so - well within the charge range of the clowns so shooting them is generally not an option... the falcons are other main problem. a properly kitted-out falcon comes with vectored engines, spirit stones & holofields! it takes on average about 6-8 or so glancing hits to stop each falcon... now the main tactic i've seen this army employs is to keep out of engagement range for the 1st 3-4 turns. the eldar will use the star cannons & pulse lasers to hit from a distance along with the pathfinders... (who are just a fething pill to remove without any template weapons!!!) turn 4/5, the clowns attack and then pull back... basically, the idea is to limit your opponent's ability to cause damage. the autocannon is definately the way to go for guard & chaos marine armies thanks to it's 48" range, but everyone else is out of luck... a friend of mine was recently badly massacred thanks to this army. (he was playing 'nids.) his quick-draw flyrant, (tyrant w/2x twin-linked devourers & wings), was the first thing to die... after that, it was just him trying to chase a bunch of falcons with 12" range weaponry. (his 'fex w/venom cannon was killed without hitting a damn thing!) overall, i'd hate to face this damnable thing! i know if i ever saw an opponent pulling this crap out for a 'friendly' pick-up game at the local GW store, i'd 'no thanks' and walk away... (as there's nothing remotely "fun" about this list!) cheers!

| dam.....i didnt think of that. and with the vectored engines even if you do manage to immobilize em they still will be able to hurt you. but yea if someone played this in a 'friendly' pick up game i would.......well acutally i would probrobly forget that its a cheap list until about halfway through. then someone blue in the back of my head would start kicking me and i would be like "dam so THATS why im getting destroyed." |

| Seems to me that if you used Grey Knights you could play the Clowns at their own game- admittedly Shrouding isn't quite as good as what the 'Quins can conjure up but with Power/Terminator armour it doesn't have to be. Weapons that cut through invulnerable saves, cover saves or both (psycannons and incinerators respectively). Yeah I'd think the Harlequins are pretty screwed.... |

| the age of reptiles ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yea i've been talking to a friend about this sort of list...it's ridiculous when they get into CC [and i have yet to play with him] but it seems like if you can shoot the crap outta the footslogging, badly armored harlequins then they won't be a big deal, and then just use a few heavy weapons to take some of the vehicles down, that should be at least half of the threat down...now, just to do that XD
