hmmm... interesting enterprise. wonder if it will work for me? nah, my painting skills are mediocre and i haven't finished even 1 army

you can sell anything on ebay. but if you want to make a profit, it would ahve to be to someone who wants the models for their conversions/paint work rather that for stripper fodder

Yes. Of course, all it takes is practice. I remember when I couldn't paint to save my life, and I didn't even enjoy it. Now, I'm suposedly very good, and I enjoy painting intricate and beautiful models like Marneus Calgar and Lysander, just for fun.

Anyway, BOT.

hehehe! i don't think any of us really want to think back to how bad our first few models looked! (come to think of it, i don't even want to think back to my first attempt at green stuff!lol.)

like anything, all it ever takes is paitience and lots of practice

cheers!

Stitch, I don't want to have to warn you, but I will if you purposefully ignore my orders again. Back on topic.

most annoying armies i find are the ones that have no army list writen up so wargear and such continually changes from turn to turn... (or else there's about 300+ pts of extra models on the table and you don't find out till after the game's over when your opponent is going on about bad you are and how easy a time they had ruthlessly mashing your army into the ground!!!)

honestly, is it really *that* hard to write out a proper army list?!!

that and playing against people who proxy half their forces

cheers!

It really annoys me when I play people who don't use WYSIWYG. It is so frustrating when the person you are playing says, 'Oh, that scout with a chainsword? Thats a power sword. Oh, and that Captain in Power Armour? He's actually got Terminator armour. And that Chaplian definitely has a jump pack. Well, I payed for it in points anyway.'

I just want to smack them round the face. Depending on how bad it is, I sometimes just refuse for them to use it.

that's usually my answer! if they do it once, i don't play them untill they model all their relevent wargear properly/write out a legible army list...

i don't mind if someone's say proxying a unit they're thinking of buying, just to see how said unit will work for them, but proxying half a space marine army using legs glued to bases and gretchin is stretching it a wee bit!

cheers!

Yeah. I don't play against anyone unless they have a solid list and WYSIWYG. Of course, I'll play people to let them test units etc, specially.

in my area there are a few people notorious for never having army lists - theyre well known for being cheats, whiners, power gamers and general bumholes. i point blank refuse to play against them

we have a few of those too unfortunately... luckily at the local gw store though the staff are getting pretty strict about what they call the basic 'gamer's rights' in that it's now store policy that there's no proxying and/or unpainted models, you *must* have a legibly writen army list before you can play anyone (and food court napkins don't count!) and any kind of rules-lawyering/cheating results in the offender being booted out the front door!
the local independant retail stores are a whole different story! you name it, it happens with the crowd at those stores... i don't play there anymore because of all the whiners and compleatly power gamer attitudes of most people there.

overall imho, the hobby is so much better off without these kinds of silly people

cheers!

Our store has the following policies:

1. No proxying - you use the models you have. If you don't have the models, say, you forgot a squad, you use something else or you upgrade as much as you possibly can (See that Vyper? Rather than just Spirit Stones, it has everything!).

2. Painted Models - it is not required for you to have painted models. Whilst they look better on the table, you have paid the money for those models, and for some reason (lack of time, your perfectionism takes months per squad) if you haven't painted your models, so what? As long as they're put together.

3. Army lists - you must have an army list to present to your opponent or a staff member if you intend on playing a game.

Generally, none of these are really problems. Me and my friends don't proxy - if we buy something, and it isn't working, we keep trying until we know how to use it. Painted models we aren't to fussed on - we understand that people just like to get their army out. As long as they're in the process of painting it, fine. My friend has an Imperial Fists army (using Deathwing Rules) and all of the models are currently yellow, because he hasn't had the time to paint the rest of the models.

And army lists ... well, there's about 8 or 9 of us who are in the store every thursday and saturday morning and we get loads of games in with each other (we don't monopolise - if someone wants to use the table, we let them. It's just that noone else wants to use them.) and as a result, we know each others lists pretty much back to front and inside out. I can tell you exactly what's in my friend's Deathwing/Imperial Fists, his old Eldar army, a Death Guard army, a Tau army, a Necorn army, an Imperial Guard army, a 13th Company army, a Speek Freeks army, and many many more.

We allow proxying, if it's agreed before hand that it's a battle dedicated to play-testing one or perhaps two armies. Otherwise, you have to use what you have, or, if someone else is kind enough, borrow their models. We're all one big, happy club.

ive played friends with my best friend where ive proxied surfs as grey knights and he proxied... wait for it... my tyranid models as TAU!

i dont really condone this but we were both playtesting an army we were respectviely thinking of buying at the time. we also tried watching every game we could taht included one of the two armies, not to mention scouring the internet for advice. in the end the armies werent for us, but the proxied playtesting was invaluable in helping us make the decision.

I would not dream of doing such a thing with a stranger in a club mind you.

Excuse my language, it had to be said.

Yeah, using other models is cool, but someone once asked to use deoderant cans as Sentinels O.o

not lysander's wing, but i have faced a marine army with the 9 tornados, 2 squads of 5 scouts and everything else dumped into 5-man termie squads each w/2 assault cannons...

suffice to say i packed my models up and simply didn't even bother to play the little snoty-nosed kid...
honestly, where's the fun in me taking 15-20min to deploy my entire guard army only to remove two thirds of it after my opponent's first shooting phase?!! (he also wouldn't play anything beyond alpha level simply because my drop troops had given him a rather hard kicking a few weeks earlier...)

people like this kid botter me to no end... it's alright for them to play hard-core power gamey type forces, but as soon as the tables *might* be turned on them, they accuse you of being a beardy old git

cheers!
