|  Special Characters and You In recent years I have seen more and more people use Special characters. I once hated the thought but now I use Nork Deddog often (even if he is only 55pts). I wanted to Know a few things about other people using Special Characters. If you do use them, please tell us: Who? Why? How you use them? How useful/useless have they been? If you dont use Special Characters? Why? If you were to use SC who would they be? How has it worked for you? I will start. I use Special Characters Who? I use Nork Deddog Why? He is an Ogryn and has enchanted stats. How you use them? Attach to a dirt cheap HQ. Use the guard as shields. Kill enemies. How useful/useless have they been? Very useful. At 55 pts I can have a 164pts I can have him at W=7 w/ 4+ save cuz of the Majority Save/Toughness. And Nork can take down Wraithlords and Tanks.

| ived used Col. Schaeffer & Last Chancers & Brother-Captain Stern Why? To get the amazing Last Chancers and 20 sniper rifles or 20 plasma guns or 20 power swords and there are just so many other powerful oppertunities Stern because of his one reroll that allows me to save his but once in a while and his ability to kill a greater daemon without breaking a sweat. Sucess? with stern in one on one matches he always kills the greater daemon Last Chancers oh my god you have no idea. of course a bunch die but they always get the job done

 | I've teenkered with farsight a little bit. Why  nly Tau with power weapon, 7 samuri army can be fun(even if partly proxied)Success:Mild, my opponent had(and evreyone should) have fear of a battlesuit with a power weapon therefore he and his 6 man battlesuit retinue were priortiy targets.

| hmm... i use Lysander, Lucius the eternal, high marshal helbrecht, chaplain grimaldus, and will use Usakar Creed... I use lysander with a 5 termie squad army and deep strike... and if he kills one enemy char/HQ he usually makes up his points... Lucius cuz he owns close combat... with anyone... Helbrect because he can power through close combat with most things... and if a dred gets in his way he has krak and a combi-melta Grimaldus because of his ability to stay alive with a leadership Creed because he is a good imperial guard leader and is cheaper... I usually use the special characters because they have what i would take and special rules and are still cheaper then a DIY commander

| i never use special characters simply because i really enjoy building my own characters' 'legends' so to speak! i really enjoy the story aspect of the game and also, there really aren't any special characters that fit into my story! out of 2 inquisition books, every special character is a goody-two shoes puritan... over corse, my own character is a filthy, dirty radical! as for never using a named guard commander, well again, i just can't really picture any of them not leading their own regiment into battle! besides, i have a hard time picturing the likes of commissar gaunt enjoying his time in a regiment of zealously loyal, imperial nutters who are being used by a radical inquisitor!  cheers!

| true stitch however have you ever thought or just experimineted with Usarker Creed? i was wondering how he does before i attempted to add him into my games day list

| I once used The Tyranid Red Terror and Old One Eye. They seemed to be good. I stopped using special characters when Conflict Ireland came around and we were given points for creating a bit of fluff for our armies. That and the new Nid codex came out.
