| Trooper ![]() | Are they at all useful? I've only been playing since 4th edition, but I'd assume they would have come in handy at aiding guess range units in 3rd ED (even if you couldn't fire the same turn). So do they have any real use or are they just novelty? |

| They allow you to measure the range to a target to see if it's in range and if it isn't you can still shoot at another target in range that turn. So yeah, they have their uses.

| Nope... Under 4th edition rules you have to declare which unit is shooting at what, then you measure the range and if the target is too far away the firing unit misses it's shooting that turn.

| inquisitorial henchmen have em, and when you have 3 heavy bolter servitors you dont want those to not be able to shoot. theyre useful, but i dont think you are able to buy them as wargear in any army...i think they either have em or dont. |

| Daemonhunters can get them from the armory for 1pt. All stormtroopers and basic warrior henchmen have them too. They seem to always be attached to hellguns in these units but the codex fails to say weather or not they are lost when you upgrade henchmen to Gun-servitors.

Blog Entries: 1 | the dh codex says that a gun servitor must replace his hellgun with anouther weapon from the list, so if the targeter is attached to the hellgun i'd assume he looses it. however, nowhere does it actually state that the targeter is attached to the gun so...?

| All the stormtroopers loose the targeter when they upgrade their hellguns to a special or heavy weapon.
