The Black Saints need... YOU!

This post is two fold, the main thing being.... I need an Icon for the Chapter... I would like to somehow incorporate the symbols of their First Founding chapter, the Blood Angels, along with a skull emblem if possible. I am incapable of drawing, and everything I have done thus far has looked far too Smurf-ish.

The second is this... I need names.. Preferably Latin/Biblical (ala DA style) names for... 77 marines! Take a look here: http://www.40kterra.com/forums/showt...9563#post19563 for the list, and what squads need what, etc... And if you want to give the guys a bit of personality, a story, that would be great. Just submit them here and i'll gladly accept them.

For those marines who have a special or heavy weapon, etc... If for some reason There are... 3 flamer marines submitted for a certain assault squad, and if there is still room, I will let you know which one will be a regular assault trooper, and if not i'll make sure to let you know what happens to your creation!

ahaha well i will give you all the names i have that i plan to use personally. so don't be surprised if our chapters ACTUally end up being pretty similar. :] names like gideon and lazarus come to mind, for Biblical things. eleazar is also biblical. funny, i know the Bible a little and can't think of many names now. ah, manessah and ephraim. cain, or kane, or cane, or any other way you want to spell that are also cool sounding names. :]

hm...i can't think of that many more right now. long day, you know ? haha. as for the icon [okay another idea i've been saving for my tanks haha] is for any prominent skull, to have a tear of blood coming down from one of the eyes. maybe it can be used/changed for your icon perhaps ? :]

also: i believe the 40kterra forums have a big ol' name list you can scrounge through if you so desire. and the DA name generator is another good source. :]

If you want to you could raid the Penitent Knights name list, they're nearly all latinised so if your pushed for names then that could easily give you at least 3 dozen.

Ok... Maybe I can draw a bit more interest here, as i've done some fluff designing. Each of the sergeants for the many squads of the Black Saints can be found here: http://www.40kterra.com/forums/showt...9906#post19906 . This list their squad, weapons, etc.. Given I am beginning to build these boys, I would like to put forth the following idea, inspired by baronspikey. The right shoulder pad of these men is blank. I need heraldry, and a story for them. So, who would like to pick their most liked sergeant name (or if you have a better latin/grecian/roman name, re-name one) and develop fluff and such for him and his squad?

Each squad will be like unto a group of retainers for their Lord, who is the sergeant. I would also like to extend this competition of designing heraldry and fluff to the Council Guard and Council of 13, as well as Remus and Antonious (First Chaplain and Chief Librarian).

Specifics will be heraldry to go on right shoulder pad or a small shield ala terminator shoulders to be on the right side of the model. Also is the type of weapon he bears (keep in mind most of them bear 'power weapons' so this is a wide open range), and specifically a few bits (helmet, armor MK, etc..) that he is wearing.

Those nominations which are accepted will recieve their 40kTerra name on the front ridge of the base, or on another part of the model, in addition to a replica of the one in my army, fully painted or not, to use in their own army, or as they see fit. This goes for terminators and HQ models as well.

Cool I'll start working out the fluff.But what kind of fluff exactly do you want?

Just something simple really. Maybe a background battle they fought in, the personality of the squad/sergeant, any specific look to them and why. Each squad in the black saints is mirrored after the way a King would organize his knights under his barons, so each squad is just as varied in tactic and execution. So, one assault squad might run from cover to cover, a tactical, surgical strike team. The next might fly headlong into the fight regardless of casualties or enemy fire leveled at them, cutting the opposition in bloody bits.

Sergeant Hadrian:

“What’s the death toll at today?” A voice loomed over Commander Adonis it was Chaplain Antonious speaking.
“A deal over expected,” replied Commander Adonis, “More specifically, 20 marines, including Diripio Sergeant Vassilli, he took a lone sniper shot.”
“Blasted heretics, did the rest of the squad’s morality hold up during battle?”
Commander Adonis looks over to his stenographer servitor. Reaches over to grab the reports. “So it seems, as a matter of fact their kill rate excelled more then average, a sharp increase on brother Hadrian’s part. But you know how much I hate these damn reports, worthless.”
Antonious lays his hand on Commander Adonis’ shoulder, and says, “These reports are necessary. It is my duty to ensure that every brother is working to his maximum. We need to ensure that their loyalty stays in line, especially with all these chaos marines we have encountered. For only in death does duty end, never before. Bring me brother Hadrian. His duty needs to be rewarded.”
“Cover point! Get a heavy bolter covering that ally way. Watch your six men, these city streets are as mysterious as the warp,” Sergeant Vassilli shouted.
“Sir, noise, third floor of the factory” a brother informed Vassilli.
“We will split up into two combat squads, heavy bolters cover us, and we will use the nearby Leman Russ wreckage to cover us.” This was the last order Vassilli gave. As the part of the squad ventured forth from the bombed out building, brother Hadrian shouted, “Sniper! On your six Sergeant!” It was too late.
As the hellish round pierced Vassilli’s armour, Brother Hadrian couldn’t help but to stand stunned. The rest of Vassilli’s detachment was choked by traitorous fire. As the dust settled, Hadrian could see the taunting rebels in the factory building across the street. He couldn’t swallow his pride on this one.
“Come brothers! Avenge Vassilli’s death, pour your bullets into the flesh of the wicked!” Hadrian shouted, as he ran towards the factory.
In the rush of things Hadrian fumbles his missile launcher, but only to benefit from Vassilli’s lone power weapon.
Shattering the door with his foot he charged forth towards the scum. Caught off guard by his fierce zeal, there was little they could do against the force of Hadrian’s sword.
He walked out of the building, covered in filth and blood. His brothers just reaching the factory building, they were a little more hesitant, and weary of enemy fire within the streets.
“And it was for these actions that you are being promoted. Brother Hadrian, you may rise, for you are now Sergeant Hadrian.” Commander Adonis announced. “ You have earned your rank, and new weaponry. May your example inspire even the lowly Guardsmen!”
“Sir I have but one request” Sergeant Hadrian said, “ I must keep Vassilli’s sword, for even in death shall his duty go on, a true marine’s fight is never done.”
Commander Adonis nodded.

Very, very nice. You didn't have to go through all the trouble of making him, you coulda just described bit ideas, but making him is cool too!

well here is the fluff for Sargent Nero

The sun passed over the battlefield as the Alda Assault Squad was finishing off the last of the resistance of the traitorous space marines`s flank. Standing around his fallen brothers was Sargent Nero.
"May you always fight on in the Emperor's holy light my brothers" said Nero before calling over an apothecary. The battle had been hard fought but they had only taken three casualties this is partly because of the tactical idea of continually striking at the weakest part of the traitor's flank then falling back. Nero started to walk around to see how the rest of his battle brothers had fared in the battle. There are no serious injuries, nothing an apothecary can't handlehe thought to himself.
"Brothers to me" he shouted
once they had fallen in he had started to go over there next mission to regroup with the rest of the company for a final push to against traitors which will allow the company to finally get out of the ruined city that the have been defending for the last six months and call for reinforcements which will allow them to finally win this campaign.

When they finally arrived at the ruins of a once proud city they saw that every thing was getting ready for a final assault against the traitors. Alda was ordered to defend the left flank of the charge. They then went to the left flank and Nero started to speak.
"Brothers we are tasked in defending the flank of our charging brothers, each of us will have to fight as though you were an army of a thousand, Do not let me down, do not let your brothers down, do not let the chapter down, and never let the Emperor down, now lets show them what we of assault squad Alda can do!"

As the charge started so did the marines of squad Alda start to cut down any traitor unfortunate enough to get in there way. the charge was a success they had managed to push the traitors back far enough to call in reinforcements. When the extra marines came they managed to finally push the traitors of the planet reclaiming it in the name of the Emperor.

I hope you like it (sorry that if some of it doesn't make sense as this is my first bit of fluff writhing and that English wasn't my best subject)

Any way I'm working on some heraldry For Nero so ill post that when i'm finished ok.

Works fine calvor. All of them may be polished when I put them in the over-arching file for the Chapter, but i'll post them here for the original authors approval.

P.S. - I got straight D's in English.. Yet i'm a published author. Schooling doesn't always judge talent.

Wow.. That is very, very nice.. I'm not much for images, beyond twisting what is already there. Calvor, I may bug you in the future for some icons, and if you don't mind I think this one is grand enough looking I may put it on a banner, or possibly transfer it to plasti card and then meld the pc to make it look like parchment on the shoulder pad.

He hurtled into the sky, the rest of Assault Squad Atticus a step behind, leaping from the top of the snowy cliff, black armour shining as the first rays of the dawn sun struck them.

The traitors were sitting around their anti-air platforms below, the long barrels of the four Hydra emplacements rising up behind them. A spotter looked up from his morning kaf, then dropped the mug
