Oh... Oh wow...

Funny, I was looking for the Primarchs in the middle of the picture, then I saw them off to the side. I like the fact that the emphasis seems to have been taken off them a little.

And that Dreadnought, awesome...

I actually like the Emperors Children sargeant on the bottom left wielding that broadsword. A good picture of the legion fighting. Tight, disciplined lines and a leader in the fore commanding by example.

wait is it proven that it is indead ferrus? i thought he had silver hands/arms

aside from that i found it to be very good artwork. im just glad they got the EC before slaanesh came and turned them all tentacles and nasty

My...god?!

It's beautiful, amazing picture. I'm not bothered that there was less emphasis on the Primarchs, as they should almost never be the focal point. There, but not distracting. Amazing find.

Its pretty but I must agree with MSguardsmen, It doesn't look much like Ferrus to me...why does he have a big wrentch and that whacky backpack...makes him look more like an ork big mek then a Primarch...plus in the pic the Iron hands armor is silver when in reallity its black?

Many Legions repainted their armour after the heresy, as every legion had heretics within their ranks, from a couple of Astartes to entire Legions. Either way, for Loyalists, the shame was unbearable, and many Legions repainted their armour as a way of wiping themselves clean.

Actually, though you would be right for most legions, the Irons Hands livery hasn't changed ever and there are no instance of Iron Hands turning heretic

I have their Index Astartes article

Sadly boys, it is the iron hands. Look at the dreadnought, middle right, and the left banner. It has the Iron hands Symbol. Considering the figure dueling Fulgrim is the size of Fulgrim, that leaves only one option. Ferrus Manus.

Hmm, the Fulgrim one does look pretty good... I've got to say though, the False Gods cover looks amazing! They've really captured the true image of Marines in that one... fine work!

considering I have talked to (well, on the internet, and on a forum at that) the man who drew that... I must say I agree with you

And yes, GW's 40k artwork is really not notch... wish I had more.

For more 40k art... this is some character sketches on the BI website for the Upcoming 40kRPG here: http://www.blackindustries.com/?temp...content=art-dh

Oh, erus, thanks for giving the link!

i really am not a fan of this type of artwork. give me a karl kopinski piece anyday over this, though i must say of the five screensavere on the BL site, th this one is the best.

and why are the primarchs so big? i was under the impression that the only giant was magnus (im sayign big relative to the marines in the foreground, which are so much smaller than the duelling primarchs).

The size disparity between a primarch and marine is like unto a normal man to a marine. I forget where I read it, but in an older book I read it quoted Sanguinius as being too tall to enter a 15 foot door (keep in mind this is with wings). A regular man is about 5'10"-6' in IG armor. A Space Marine, in armor, is around 9 at shortest, 10 at tallest (varying between Chapter/Legion). A primarch, therefore by scale, would be about 11 to 14 or so feet tall. The Custodes fell in between here, and the emperor topped out at roughly twenty.

The Emperor height is drawn by conjecture. It is said his statues were made in perfect image and proportorion to the real him. A space marine in this same book it was said could see the mid of his kneepad on the statue. Using this, it is safe to say 16-20 ft.

Did everyone follow that?

thats the first ive ever heard of this. all the artwork ive seen of the Emp (inluding both of Adrian Smith's wonderful pieces) show him as the size of a normal marine.

even so, those primarchs look huge - much bigger than the difference between a human and marine. theyre at last twice the size of the marines in the foreground ,taking perspectvie into account

If you take this artwork here.. http://library.galciv2.com/mvlib/ss/...eror-horus.jpg into account, the Emperor is at least the size of a primarch, given adjustments for his stance and Horus being higher on the set of steps than him, as well as in termie armor.
