Default ARGH 750 pts is hard!

I'm really beating myself up as to what I want to use for my 750 point army, but my problem is I have to many models i want to use!
This is the list I'm toying around with.

Emperor's Champion: 90 pts (can't decide on a vow)

Chaplain: 95 pts (I find the options for the Black Templars Chaplains annoyingly confusing!)

Troop choices: Crusader squad, 10 Initates, Bolters, 1 Missle Launcher Crusader seals. 190

Crusader squad, 10 Initates, Bolt pistols & Chain Swords, 1 Flamer, Crusader seals 186 pts

Fast Attack: Assault Squad 5 Initiates, 1 Power Weapon and Storm Shield. 128

thats 689 points. I'm pretty certain that I can drop some troops for some tanks but i really need advice.

*UPDATE* I'm Dropping the Plasma Pistol and Adding in a Landspeederwith a multi-melta

Points are now 749

Do you already have these models or are you making the list before you buy the models? If the issue is that you have a large collection, then just make the points size larger.

As a personal preference, I always pick Uphold the Honour because it's cheap and still useable for whatever the enemy is. The +1S vow is good against high initiative armies. (Swarm/stealy nids, eldar, etc etc) The other two are fairly obvious IIRC, especially the anti-psyker one

Chaplain: 95 pts (I find the options for the Black Templars Chaplains annoyingly confusing!)

Not really, Keep his Rosiarus and Crozus, though I think you can Mastercraft his Crozus if you wish for the points cost. His command squad options are fairly straightforward, though you probalby wont want to field one in such a small game. Wargear wise you might want to terminator honours+artificer armour him up for some added survivability and punch.

Troop choices: Crusader squad, 10 Initates, Bolters, 1 Missle Launcher Crusader seals. 190

You probably would want to split this squad into 2 squads to maximize firepower by taking more special/heavy weapons, seeing as they are obviously a support squad.

Crusader squad, 10 Initates, Bolt pistols & Chain Swords, 1 Flamer, Crusader seals 186 pts

Flamer and no power weapons? eh ok... attach the Chaplain to them though. scares the hell out of whoever you're facing, and maybe you might want to use the extra 750-689 pts to beef this squad up with some neophytes The alternative is to jetpack your chappie and attach him to your assault squad. Generally though I'd suggest these guys to be a bit CC-ed up either way.

Fast Attack: Assault Squad 5 Initiates, 1 Plasma Pistols, 1 Power Weapon and Storm Shield. 128
I love assault marines. Personally I don't like giving my "fleshy" marines plasma pistols, but that's just me.

Switch the flamer in the Crusader squad for a meltagun or power weapon. As Stitch will tell you, if you flame the squad you intend to assault, you run the risk of killing all those in assault range.

okay, so my 'glorious imperial guard grand assault' failed once because i foolishily flamed my opponent to death and ended up half an inch out of charge range...
the real reason though for a melta is bcause you don't have veteran sergeants in templar armies. that means no melta bomb safty net against say, a dreadnought that mugs your squad! instead, you simply die... with a meltagun however, your opponent won't be very quick to try that because if he fails, that dread is toast! (quite literally too!)

as for the list; drop the rocket squad down to only 6 men. their only purpose is to shoot tanks, so take the extra bodies and put them elsewhere... (perhaps another 'support' squad?!)

a dreadnought w/assault cannon + rocket launcher is also fairly cheap, and is solid against pretty much anything you might encounter as well...

neophytes can bulk-up your overall numbers, but keep your ratio to 2:1 between initiates:neophytes so the mixed armour rules don't screw you over too badly!

I helped my templar friend work out a 750pt army, and I'll say the same thing.

First off... the Emperor's Champion is amazing for his points. Stick him in a veteran squad (sword brethern) or a 10 man assault initiate squad and he will kick butt. The only Vow that is really worth anything IHMO is Accept Any Challenge, No matter What the Odds.... or whatever the one that makes you hit at 3+ in CC... I forget what its called (dont own the codex).

Second off... in 750pts, you'll only need, unless you face an evil 'nid player who'll stick a Hive Tyrant, one missile launcher. Get a 5 man squad and and a neopythe just for scoring purposes.

Finally... the chaplain is the way to go in Black Templars, so use one, definatly. A foot chappie w/ a command squad gets a vet. sarge, so that is good, however, if you are hurting for points, a smaller crusader squad will do good.

Honesty... I'd something like

1 chappie, crozius, termie honors, bolt pistol

1 Emperor's champion

2 Crusader squads x 10 w/ either powerfists, powerweapons or melta guns, bp and ccw, frag 'nades if you have the points.

1 crusader squad x 5 w/ 1 neopythe, bolters and missile launcher

And finally, if you have the points... take a Dreadnought, its good fire support and all around decent unit, stich's suggestion of Assault Cannon and Missle Lancher is good, IHMO.

Yes, the EC will destroy most HQ units in CC. The Accept any Challenge, No Matter the Odds vow is great. If a Neophyte can hit a Chaos Lord in CC, how bad can it be?! just don't expect that Neophyte to kill anything!
