Default Razorback or Rhino

Well i`m new to the game and well i play black templars

my question is... which is better to place in game for BT?

The razor back could have a Lasgun but you need to move less to use it

The rhino you could use to get soon into battle

which seems to be the best option in BT? please some pros and cons

thanks in advance

Dude put the razorback, that way you get more firepower to your army...

i say rhino ftw.

when all is said and done, the rhino is a means to an end, and a razorback is just a pimped rhino.

if you rely on a razorback to field anti armour, you are going to come unstuck

Depends. I personally don't like transports, but Templars seem to have strength in numbers, so i'd suggest a squad of 10 in a rhino. You are SM.. You pack a lot of punch just by that fact. I do advise a 10 initiate, 4 neophyte + Grimaldus (or no neophytes, depending on his retinue) cruising about in an Land Raider Crusader. That shiiite HURTS.

One of the biggest advantages the Black Templar have is their numbers. To get as many marines and noephytes across the board and to your objectives you want to use transports with a large troop capacity.

If you really want to use a Razorback, you could use them as transports for devastator squads. Then you have 4 heavy weapons plus what ever you put on the Razorback. This maximizes firepower for the unit and if need be provides cover for your unit to fall behind until they can make thir move.

One of the biggest things to remeber in this game is that it doesn't matter what kind of tank it is, it will attract alot of fire. Due to this issue, you may want to be especially observant to you opponents and figure out what they go for, then adjust your strategy in future games. I field empty transports alot because people will do there best to kill it, while the squad marches into the objective from the opposite side.

Rhino rush doesnt work quite like it did in 2nd edition, but it still works, and rather well. Go with rhinos.

It depends on what role you want the squad to fulfill. I would only use a razorback to transport an HQ and his squad or an anti-tank squad. Rhinos can be used to transport bolter squads. I recommend using a Land Raider Crusader for assaulting squads because the squad can be bigger, and the LRC is nigh unstoppable.

I assault lets you assault the turn you get out. That's nice.

And any squad that's big enough to ride in a LRC is sure to give your enemy a bad day.

templars can't take devastor squads sadly...

a razorback can provide a bit of extra punch, though it is still expensive! still, you can get a nice little flanking unit w/flamer or melta or plasma gun mounted in a razorback w/twin-linked lascannons.
it can zip down the enemy's flank at full speed turn 1, pop some smokes, and now your opponent has to do something to deal with a multiple threat 'unit' that can take on pretty much anything!

cheers!

yea i really don't like the price tag on razorbacks ! if you want to take a transport for normal foot troops then i'd say go with the rhino as well. relatively crappy, but still dirt cheap for its capacity, ten marines is a lot of firepower ! :]

dang, haha who came up with the idea of making our transports arguably the worst way to spend 50-60 points ? lol

you got a point

I donīt have enough experience with the game, but iīve tried both of them.

if you use a transport (i know land raider is better but suppose you donīt have the points/miniature) you want to move your troops in combat as fast as you can... the rhino moves 12 and put the guys in game... but the razorback to shoot his lazer cannon need to move 6... so it goes in detriment of your movement into combat... specially for the Black templars, each aditional turn you have your guys inside the transport is missed because they donīt shoot and do what they do that is to fight.

I know you could move 6 and have a twin linked cannon at your disposal but that would work better with shooting units like devastators as someone said before.

for now the rhino is winning.

There is just one thing. Space Marines move just as fast, and, a Predator w/ lascannons costs only mildly more (well, actually... 30 pts) but, you get a much better deal with front armor 13.

Yes, the razorback can transport 6 men, but, it can also be blown up by a Heavy Bolter.

Also, you have crap armor, the only thing keeping you alive will be the smoke launchers you'd better add on to any rhino you have. After that, Rhino's are best used as mobile cover.

So... I say the Rhino.
