Blog Entries: 1 | well, with my multi colored marines in my closet gathering dust for not having a battle in months (weeks more accurretly but seems longer) I started looking elsewhere on the GW site. Then I starting browsing the Fantasy section and well what do you know, I got hooked (ugh another money sucker). So I got the 7th ed book and debating on what to do. Should I go with the Battle for Skull Pass route (100 models! No way......) or should I just start an army now? My current army ideas are Bretonnias (King Arthur FTW), Dark Elves (women warriors with giant beasts? Where do I sign up!), Ork- I mean Orcs and Goblins (WAAAAAGHH!), Lizardmen (Dino Riding reptiles sound like a party!), and Tomb Kings (Mmmmmmm, Egypt inspired army).

| King Arthur....erm I mean the Bretonnians! Its so obvious that the root of the Bretonnian influence is French Romance Period, English Feudalism, and King Arthur (Green Knight anybody? A legend of King Arthur...) |

Blog Entries: 1 | Dear god if you do go Bretonnians DO NOT NEGLECT MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen so many perfectly good armies wiped out simply because people under-estimate the power of a lvl 4 Enchantress with the Lore of Beasts and the Bears Anger. She is more than capable of taking out an Empire captain or wiping out units of lightly armoured troops. Also remember the Lance formation, it is your friend. It means you get rank bonus at 3 models per rank (BEARDY FRENCH MEN!!!!!). Also never try to charge High Elf spearmen front on as they get three ranks of attacks. Nor should you attempt to front charge Dwarf Ironbreakers with 2 ranks behind as they can take the charge (2+ save is ftw) then the tooled up thane hits back hard. Charge them in the behind where they lose the characters attacks and dont get a rank bonus. One more tip, Pesants or yeomen w/e archers are VERY good. Amazingly cheap for such good shots and peppering units with them can be great at whittling them down before your knights charge home.

Blog Entries: 5 | I'm no wise man when it comes to fantasy, though I did like watching it at the local shop the few times I ran in when a game was being played. That aside, with my limited knowledge of both you and the game, i'd say Bretonians. They're a good strong army, and fairly forgiving from what I hear. Rather like WHFB versions of SM without the INSANE stats.

Blog Entries: 4 | Dark Elves. Shadowsword is nasty. (Especially if you interpret the potion as "may drink any turn" due it saying it may be drunk at the beginning of a turn (not specifying which) and is an item (does not say 1 use). Therefor you have a 360pt lord running around with WS10, S7, I10 and a 4+ inv. Did i mention he spawns in an enemy infantry unit? You can place him anywhere in contact with that unit. Can someone say FLANK!? Haha

Blog Entries: 1 | Easiest Armies to ease yourself gently down into Fantasy And the prize for Best Gun line that then whoops your ass when you reach it goes to... Dwarfs! And the prize for running over to the other deployment area stupid quick and killing goes to... Orks and Goblins! (Horrid when some beardy git gets two Waaaghs in a row and charges you on Turn two...) The prize for overall easiest army to get to grips with that has everything you could wish for... Empire! Without a doubt the Empire are the easiest army to start off with. Devastating ranged weaponry, Annoyingly hard close combat units (Greatswords occasionally give my dwarfs a run for their money. Not for long admittedly... Purposefully flee from combat and pepper them with shots from the artillery normally works.) And freakishly good cavalry! No One Army Should Have All Of That!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention some fantastic Lord choices. Wizard Lord + Templar Master in a 3k list is so bloody powerful.

Blog Entries: 4 | Actually one of our local staffers had QUITE the time with his empire army (i.e. not good) and decided to go lizardmen. Oh and with dwarves are awesome, especially with all the new models that just came last summer. Dwarven War Machines for the win! (you'll want ways to maximize damage with each shot though)

| Your Local Ori Prior ![]() ![]() | The empire isnt very forgiving if you fail with them. They just has so few actual combat specialists (besides knights and greatswords) that if you lose those units, your army tends to fall apart. They are a very fun army though and is still my largest army!

| Go for dwarfs or empire. Dwarfs major downside is they're speed (slowest army in the game) but with their massive amount of guns available you don't need to move. Empire is good all around but it doesn't shine in any particular area (unless you specially design it for ranged combat only). Lizardmen aren't all that tough. They're good in close combat but they usually hit last after a charge. They cost a bit more two so they're usually outnumbered. Heres a comparison of the standard troops for lizardmen and empire. Code: Unit M WS BS S T W I A Ld Saurus Warrior 4 3 0 4 4 1 1 2 8 Spearmen 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 1 7 |

Blog Entries: 2 | Honestly? Go for looks. There are generally more minis in a fantasy army than a 40k army and you`ll need to like them to paint them all ![]() Plus, if you like their fluff and their looks you`ll also enjoy playing them regardless. You`ll learn to use them anyway. And rest asured you`ll lose with pretty much every army if you do silly stuff ![]() From what i`ve heared Stunties are the most "newb friendly" but effective guys out there. I for one would start with either Dark Elves or Chaos (for they are cool) and have a side army of either Orcs or Dwarfs (just for the fun factor )
