Default my new WIP WHF corupted bretonnians

well hairy asked for it so hereit is. the first fantasy wip thread. it will be my nurgle corupted bretonnians. ok so i sat down today to start getting the feel for painting these guys an oi lots of detail. not goint to be a quick paint as i was hoping for.

i havent started to GS the horse yet maybe tomorrow i dont have a sculpting tool. i think thers a modeling stor up the street im gonna try and stop ther in the morning. im gonna keep the mutations to a minimum for now cause the taint is just starting to take effect. so probly just bloated stomachs and missing ears on the horses.

Dental tools also work great if you can get ahold of them, for sculpting that is.

mwaaahhahhaaahahahaa! the hairy mind control powers are finally working! beware, bbbeewwwwaaaarrreeee!!!

ahem...apologies, not quite sure what happened there.

grinder: the basic paint job looks cool, could do with some rust but i'm sure you'll get round to that also i love the headgear detail (i refuse to say i love the helmet), the unicorn without the horn and crying blood is awesome.

as for sculpting tools at a push you can use the blade of a hobby knife or some matches and toothpicks if you're really desperate.

nice base colours... now the nurglification can begin.
  • 4 parts chestnut ink: 1 part vermin brown: 1 part water = wash the armour. do afew coats of this to get a really layered look.
  • dull doen the primary colours (the yellows, reds, blues and, um, greens. you wash them with watered dow earth tones (graveyard earth, scorched brown, orkhide skin etc)

so i should wash it again?

That sounds like it might work, but I think pictures would help most. Hard to say for sure.

if thats your idea of corroded armour, you chose the wrong god

id go for a few more washes or even just paint the armour rusted and then drybrush it with metal.

you can do this with:
  • thick base of scorched brown. the bumpier the better.
  • build up by adding some bestial brown up to 1:1
  • add some blazing orange to this 1:1:1, remember keep this really thick so its builds up texture making it look like really rusted metal
  • [ick out the edges with boltgun metal - this shows where the rust has rubbed off and exposed the actual metal
  • follow up with a chestnut ink

again, taht might be more than youre looking for but, its an option

Looks good to me...I like the drool...of course prolly be better if it was runnin from his nose as well (I know...EEEEEWWWWW!!!!)
Am thinkin too that the horses and such will mutate faster than the knights as they are just beasts of burden...and don't have the will of a knight... IMO

loving the armour and the red (especially the drool), but i still think the blue is too bright, but alltogether, great work!

yeah wolf. you cant see it in the pics but i did paint a lil bit of the slimy green around the mouth and drippin out of the nose. yup heair guilty as charged i did drybrush a lil metal arounf the edges of the armore again. i liked it that way best. i need to practice with watering down the washes i tend to put em on to thick for the efect i was goin for but all in all im happy with the way it rurned out i think he looks plenty rusty . i dont know about the bloated belly though, can you even realy notice it? yeah DC the blue was first pass didnt want to wash over it till i find out what im gonna do for heraldry. any suggestions? as far as the banner i think im gona do red border blue banner and im gonna GS some boils around the edges and maybe 3 bigger boils over the cup. maybe drumel some holes threw it.

the sword could be a little more corroded, but other than that it looks good.

i would have suggested doing that if you haddn't, thats why i asked. although i would have recomended highlighting rather than drybrushing, but it came out all right so mah.

maybe do some mock ups on a test mini or piece of card or something and take some pic? let us see what we think.

ahem...check out the helmet crest on the mini in the photo...y'know the one at the start of the thread? y'see...its a unicorn...and its horn has been snapped off, right? thereby making it a dehorned unicorn.

do try and keep up
