New to fantasy and need army advice

you cant really use as much scenery on the board as you do in 40k - most armies are ranked up and it is unfair on them to have that much on the table - and besides, even if you do want lots on, the opponent can put a halt to it by saying that they want to stop placing terrain. after that you get to place 2 more i believe (1 normal and 1 due to wood elf rules)

I still think you should go with the Orgres, just dont over comedy them! You could make them quite dark, even if your going for a pirate look. Dont use a rubber parrot on any of them, and your there! Oh and avoid bright colours, but the rest of the stereotype things like hooks and wooden legs will work well.

the way you are describing the pathfinder thing isn't too far off the existing stuff as far as i can tell

go with whichever - it may be a little less feasable to have pirates near the forest of loren though.

by the way, i never did get my copy of pathfinder from either of you!

i went for vikings - pod is more rough and ready than bright and shiny - and the viking aspect fits the fluff.

it could be that the first opposition that the tribe encountered when it started its migration was a marauder warband and they stole their equipment and modified it to suit en route

I've gone and bought myself my first pack of 6 bulls and I'm ready to start converting. I'm starting to head towards the pirate theme at the moment, I'm just starting to think they might end up too comedy.

I play Ogre Kingdoms. I already went with a Japanese Oni theme. Red and blue and green and yellow ogres everywhere.

I'm going pirates. For me the question would be to Eastern pirates or Western pirates. Chinese theme with the hats and the idea of junks and stuff or more Caribbean with influence drawn from Tilea.

The facial hair and a couple of other obviously Chinese/Mongolian ideas are already in the models. It would make it easier.

I think it'd be more Caribbean Pirates (aka PotC)

Peg legs, hooked hands, gnoblars on shoulders, monkeys, eye patches, bandanas, tri-corns and stripey jumpers and trousers Though try and get more dirty and muted colours to take the comedy value out of it.

I'm going to try and start my second tonight and make him more pirate themed... pics then

I thought about ninjas, but it's a lot of work to sculpt the zkin tight leotard for them.

I've seen a stonking samurai conversion on CMON - in fact it was a tutorial... must go look again
