Squigs are fungoid creatures similar to the Orks.
They grow from the spores a dead squig produces.

As far as orks are concerned, everything tastes like chicken...

Squigs are a tyranid organism, that use Ork DNA. The orks found that these creatures are 'Orky' and began using them e.g pets. Squigs quickly integrated into ork society, and are now common amoung the ork settlements. On the tyranid side, the squigs eventually turned into rippers early on in GW history. As mentioned, they also multiply and spred by using spores, which eventually mature to produce more squigs. Snotlings are commonly used to harves squigs becuase of their many uses.

oh thats an easy one. look every spore that comes off a dead orks back can become a squig, nob, warboss, or boyz. they just come off of dead orcs and squigs and grow just like the orc

thats why dwarves have such problems with getting rid of orcs/goblins in their fallen halls, because they breed like a fugesy rabbit.

But then why are they red (and very warp`ish looking) when every other orkish thing is green?

Design loophole? were squigs warp things and at a random moment in time GW decided to add them to the greenies?

Or is there a greater story to this?

I'm sure that is just a modeling/paint choice by GW, rather than fluff related.

did you also know that since orks and orcs are naturally bald any hair on them is actually a hair squig?

i think that i will take that as a compliment i think. Also i do believe that most squigs are red in fluff as a way to differientiat them from the orcs who also share the same biological reproduction as the squigs and as to show a somewhat more bestial personality as opposed to the orcs/orks that can form a civilization even if it is at its most base of forms

ahem...

So squigs came from the same place as orcs, basicly?
And they`re red just for diversity, or becauseit looks cool?
And if they are orcish things they taste something like a roll of meat & mushrooms?

when ork spores reach an uninhabited area, natural action makes sure that the first spores incubate as squigs, the next will incubate as grots and snots who start farming the squigs, after that come the orks who find things nice and comfy for them.
