not so much rule development, but i wanted to see what you all though about this!

okay. well i am working on the fluff for space marine commander Anselm, who, according to the storyline, uses the fragments of a shattered dark blade as weapons. The fragments, shattered by an allied inquisitor, grafted themselves onto Anselm, who fiercely believed the weapon could be used to benefit the chapter. The blades have a strange, chaotic ability to stretch and bend across great distances, sweeping and cutting enemies with ease allowing the bearer to attack from a distance. However, the chaos blades have on occasion, lashed out to attack Anselm himself, resulting in excrutiating pain and temporary loss of bodily control. Anselm has been known to recover quickly from these attacks, but remains wary when using his weapons. Thus, he often remains stationary to attack distant targets, so as to be able to react swiftly in case the blades turn against him.

In-game, Anselm is required to be mounted on a bike because he is the head of a branch of my chapter, the Steel Wraiths. However, i want to represent the chaos blade this way:
-Anselm will have a master crafter powerweapon, as the blades can cleave flesh and armor effortlessly at all ranges.
-He will also have a plasma pistol to represent his stretching armor piercing blades, but [as per the pistol rules] he MUST remain stationary in order to attack twice, to represent his caution when using the mysterious weapon.
if and when the plasma pistol overheats, that counts as an "attack" from the blades.
-[and this one is iffyer fluffwise] he will have frag grenades, to represent either the enemy's surprise at the stretching blade, or because Anselm can attack in close combat before most other units can.
-Anselm will have artificer armor, just in case his "pistol" overheats.


anyone have any thoughts on this? is it a good idea?
oh yea. on the model, he won't have a plasma pistol or a normal power weapon, but instead have a pistol holster [to silence the people who insist on WYSIWYG haha] and a pair of GS'ed blades protruding from his armor's forearms.

sounds interesting, anyway the wargear really fits in with the discription of the blades all that is need is for you to name them so that they can make people quiver at the mention of them, but anyway good idea.

Neat idea... not necessarily good tactical wise, but still nice.

Oh, and btw, if you have a bike, can't you move a shoot?

errr i'm not sure actually :| i'm supposed to be studying so i don't really have time to check right now : / haha. i'm not all that well read on bike rules, sorry.

do you have any advice to make it more tactically sound? haha. i'm big on fluff, but i want to hear your suggestions as well !

oh yea, i haven't yet named the blades but i'm thinking something like [name] & [name], (ie romulus & remus) i just haven't thought of any names that go together naturally [and would inspire fear at the same time! haha] the darkblade they were originally from was the darkheart, a massive [literally, i modelled it so that the alpha legion chaos lord needs a coin on the bottom of this stand to keep from falling over] dark blade whose very presence in a room can sweep souls into its gleaming blackness.
