A fast question

if i took this vow "suffer not the unclean to live" (i play Black templars)
all my troops has this power, but can i choose not to hit +1 streght to keep my initiative without the -1 penalty? Like you could choose a power fist and a bolt pistol, but to fight with the bolt pistol with all your attacks at the stated initiative?

No, this is not a choice rule. Take the vow, you must use the -1 and +1

Wait a second... slightly related question... but, if I take a powerfist and this vow, then I could get a S10 powerfist?

it's a grey area, because do you double the strength and add 1, or add one and double the strength? I would say that you get a S10 fist, because you add +1 to your str, and you double the str after.

i think it would be a str 9 power fist
around my way we double then add the modifier
the +1 would be to the over all strength
other wise it would say a +2 with power fist for this vow

The rulebook states that you multiply your modifyers before you add them
so a +1 strength and a weapon that doubles your strength would be

Double your strength to 8 from the powerfist, and then add the +1 for whatever it is that grants that to you

ending up with a 9
