(wip) space marine captin

i just wanted to know what u guys think. a few days ago i was watching 300 while converting may captin, by the end off the movie the guy had a power sword in one hand, a spear in the other and a jump pack. i was thinkin o makin him a speacial dude and counting the spear as giving him a plus 2 str at 40pts (15 for the power weapon 25 for the +2 str). what do ya think?

That seems fairly balanced.. I might even make it an even 15/15, for 30 over all. Though I would make it (to give it even more balance) that he can use either or, but not both.

Basically, at the start of the assault phase (of either players turn) the player must declare which weapon the Captain is using. The +2 str spear is two handed, and therefore for using it as the primary, you get no +1 attack bonus, but you do get the +2 str and power weapon effects (useful against light armor like a dread, or high toughness foes!).

If he decides to use the sword, you get +1 attack for having the spear still, and just the power weapon effect on the sword.

That to me sounds fairly decently balanced, and does realistically reflect the way the weapons would operate in real combat.

i sniped the spear from a high elf Calvary, just clipped on either side o the hand. i had to cut the chainsword off one of the hands and drill through so the 2 halves met inside for support.

good man! you pinned it and everything! I wish I had the brains to do that with some of my conversions!

Just reminded me my latest dual wielding conversion lacks that type of pinning you mentioned, though i'm not sure a sword pommel is big enough for such things... Hmmmm...

hey that's not bad ! i really like how full and rounded out he looks-not skimpy like some of the marines i've made before..lol
what bit did you use for the back torso ? is that one of the SM commander bits ? :]

the cape was from the chaos marauders from fantasy. i just greenstuffed the fur smooth. the wings are from a dark angel sprue and most of the other stuff is from the assault terminator box. hes my favorite conversion (next to my hive tyrant) ive done so far

2 very enthusiastic thumbs up from me. you might think about tidying up the purity seal on the spear by either trimming the bit under the seal itself or extending the parchmenty bit down the other side, and maybe redoing the sword handle a bit but that's just me nit picking an otherwise excellent mini

the problem with the sword handle is that its a banner top from tho old high elves line. that big round thing at the handle was part o it with all kinds o detail so i had to cover it i was thinkin o putting one of the skull transfers on it and painting laurels around it
