Default 2000 Pt. CityFight Sons Of Narcot (Dark Angels SM) vs. The Painlords (Slaanesh CSM)

hey everyone,

This was a battle fought between myself and Marduk3521. it was the first cityfight fought for both of us. it was an omega level fight with tons of terrain fought on a 6x4 area. Very good fight!!

SETUP & DEPLOYMENT
Since This was an Omega Level Fight, we jammed the board full of City ruins.
I won the rolls for table quarters, so I picked mine first, with marduk setting up opposite. We also rolled for the mission, which turned up as an Urban Assault. The strategemns chosen for Marduk was medicae facility (placed in his HQ building), Preliminary Bombardment, and Demolition. I chose Plunging Fire, Fortifications, and Siege Shells for my Vindicators. Once deployment was complete, Marduk initiated his bombardment, managing to hit one squad for 3 wounds (all saved) and hitting one Vindicator to stun it for the first turn.

A view of Saint Lisa Hive (named for Marduk's wife)

Alexander the Painlord eyes his objective, flanked by his Chosen.

Librarian Ryaek of The Sons of Narcot prepares to meet the challenge.

TURNS 1&2
On turn 1, both our armies basically started maneuvering into position. Both of us left a squad to secure our respective buildings. I began by moving one squad of Noise Marines forward, intent of using a "move and shoot" approach. On my left flank I had my Vindicators, supported by my Lord and Chosen. Marduk, on the other hand, manuevered his Rhinos and lone Predator Annihilator to meet my Vindicators. Seeing this move I began to formulate a plan for my reserves, which were 3 termie squads.
On turn 2, marduk rolled for his Termie Asslt Squad, and failed. Afterwards, he dismounted both his Devastator Squads from his rhinos, and also advanced an Assault Squad forward on my right flank, as well as a Dreadnought up the center. I must hand it to Marduk, he effectively boxed me in my own quarter, forcing me to rely on my Termies. On my turn, I rolled up 2 of my 3 termie squads. However, on the deep strike, I got a bad scatter on one and lost my whole squad!!! My other squad, however, successfully dropped in, and destroyed the predator with an autocannon shot. Unfortunately, the loss of one squad would haunt me later.

The Sons of Narcot's Devastators prepare to take up firing positions.

The Painlord's 2nd Squad advances under the guns of the 1st.

The Battle for St. Lisa Hive begins in earnest!

TURNS 3&4
On turn 3, Marduk attempted to demolish a building on my left flank. Though i had no troops in it, marduk intended to block the path of my Vindicators. However, he botched an anything but roll with a 1!!!!! So, that helped me. However, he bounced his Assault Squad near my HQ building, however, the fact i had fortifications discouraged him from a full on Assault. However, his dreadnought got a lascannon shot on my lord, instantly killing him after a failed invulnerable save. DAMNIT. Also he manuevered his devastators into his building, which caused trouble for my Vindicators (I wished I had those termies....). On My Turn 3, I manuevered my Chosen Squad to meet marduk's Assault troops, as well as shifting my troops in the HQ building. On My shooting, I managaed to wax 5 Assalt Marines with my Champ's doom siren. However, the loss of my lord proved a hard blow. Also, my Vindicators opened up on the devastators, managing to kill 3 (though the siege shells failed to destroy the building).
On Turn 4, Marduk deep struck his Terminators near my HQ building. I was now in Dire Straits. I was effectively on the defensive, with my one squad of Termies my only real offensive capability. His round of shooting managed to kill two Chosen, and his defending squad in the HQ building killed 2 termies. On his Assault, my Chosen dueled with his assault marines, causing 4 casualties to 2. On my turn 4, i made what in hindsight was my worst mistake of the game. Instead of deep striking my final termie squad to meet his, i placed them near his HQ in the hope I could outlast him. This would haunt me bad.

The Chosen of Pain prepare to duel with the Assault marines.

The Sons Of Narcot terminators advance on the HQ building.

3rd Terminator Paiun Squad teleports in sight of the objective

TURNS 5&6
On turn 5, Marduk began to dismantle my positions, For Starters, Librarian Ryaek used Hellfire on my first terminator squad, hitting them with a S6 AP1 flamer template!!! GOOD GAWD!!! Can you say he ate those termies??? He left one alive, which i definatly charged into his HQ ( he didn;'t last long). Also, on turn 5, he successfully entered my HQ, slaughtering my noise marines with his lightning clawed terminators. I attempted to hold out, but my turn was just pitiful, defiant actions By end of turn 5 he was in posession of my building. On turn 6, I attempted to fire shells from my Vindicators at my own building. it was a defiant gesture, nothing more.

ENDGAME
The sons of narcot won a resounding victory, and I suffered a heck of a drumming, being left with one squad of noise marines on the board. he played very well, and I look forward to another rematch. this game was also the "prelude" to our campaign, which I will be posting battle reports soon. Tho I suffered a defeat, I still sound my warcry....DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!!!!

The Sons of Narcot fly their banner over the ruins of the painlord's HQ

The picture of my Chapter Banner was a really good pic. Maybe next time though I might not get so lucky with all the rolls.
