Unhappy Blood Angels vs More Filthy Heretics

So this was combat partol, 400 points. I was of course the most loyal and honorable chapter of marines, he was I'm guessing Slaanesh.

Game started out good enough, he forgot some of his close combat modifiers so the first close combat with the DC was pretty one sided. (he infiltrated really close to me so there wasnt much of a shooting phase)

My List:

Space Marines w/ Bolters x5
Space Marine Scouts w/ Sniper Rifles x5
Space Marine Chaplin x1

I lost...2 people from each squad to the Death Company so i ended up with

Space Marines w/ Bolters x3
Space Marine Scouts w/ Sniper Rifles x3
Space Marine Chaplin x1
Death Company x4

The battle looked pretty well in my grasp after taking out one of his squads with my death company, and holding the other at bay with my snipers long enough for my small tac squad to get over there and get into the fray.

His demonettes stayed in reserve just long enough that my guys were already suffering from the fights before. It came down to 2 Tac guys, my chaplin and 2 DC members. Against one of his marines. All locked in Close Combat. And my Snipers waiting a fair distance behind.

The die hit the table, the demonettes were summoned (3 inch scatter away from the battle), and it was all down hill from there.

My DC went down, my tac squad went down, and my chaplin went down. (all those damn rending claws)

As the demonettes and remaining chaos marine marched twords my galliant snipers, they put up a fight, poping off a few demonettes before being overrun and rended to ribbons.

*adds another mark to the loss side*

Hey, but it was a pretty cool battle. I couldn't believe that it lasted as long as it did. Kinda wish I could have played a little more, but oh well. Maybe next time. By the way, this is the red head that was at skirmisher night with the Slaanesh guy you fought.

Yeah... You had me worried up until the Chaplain fell. Those daemonettes saved me. Perhaps next time, we can meet and do a bigger battle. I think more points would really make it more even for both of us (and let me bring my big nasty HQ into play!).

Note to self: ALWAYS remember you are NOT playing your Imperial Force when fielding Chaos. They have +1 attack and warp scream dolt. (Dummy me!)

The best response to infiltrating Chaos Space Marines are Auspexes. In a 1500 point game a while back, my dev squad got a free shot at an infiltrating Alpha legion squad and they were broken and reeling backwards before the game started. I got two free shots that game, and killed seven chaos scum before the game began! At 2 points a pop, they cost little enough so that you can usually manage to pick up at least a couple.
Question? I don't have my blood angels codex anywhere near to hand, but I thought a Chaplain came with d3+3 Death Company members. ( Thats why he's so darned expensive points-wise). I didn't see them reflected in your list, and it seemed as though you were awful thin on the ground, even for 400 points.

He's suppose to when taken as an HQ choice, since it was combat partol, I couldnt take him as HQ (his wounds were too high), so I had to settle for the lesser chaplin and suppliment him with DC members from my two squads.

I had...11 models on the board. The units got thinned out b/c they went crazy on the eve of battle and had to don the black armor.

Given that i'm fearless, I wouldn't even have to worry about running. Plus, if I am close enough for the auspex to work, he's getting slammed by stationary sonic blasters that get 3 shots a pop, meaning my one squad alone can squeeze off 12 shots and a blastmaster. So while he might pick off a couple, his damage would be far more severe.

Why oh why would Blood Angels ever take sniper rifles? That sickens me.

b/c i'm cool and i can do that?

Sniper rifles wound 50% of the time, and shoot almost clear across a combat patrol board.

The regular scouts dont do much more than act as a bridge for people to close the gap.

Hey Jus10, even as a lesser chaplain, he gets d3+3 Death Company Models! That is why he is so damned expensive and why you couldnt field more models!
