Last of the Old Eldar codex 'V' Nids 1500 points - 40K Terra

Sorry for any spelling mistakes but hopefully you will enjoy the report.

The Tyranids had swarmed over the imperial guard positions the night before last and where on route to the dark matter beacon in the centre of the waste lands. The Eldar had used this location as a staging post for one of their web way gates and needed to ensure that the dark matter beacon did not fall into the claws of the Tyranids.

The two leading Swarms of Gaunts moved forward with lightening speed utilising fleet of claw followed closely by two units of the feared Geenstealers. Ensuring that the swarm would not be affected by any incoming fire two units of winged Warriors flapped their wings and used their psychic ability shouting out to the Gaunts to keep on moving.

Lumbering with its massive torso the Carnifex and Hive Tyrant began their malevolent advance into the heart of the Eldar lines. The only attempt to fire came from the massive barbed strangler on the Carnifex due to the ambient light on the planets surface the Bio massed weapon failed to correctly energise and the weapon failed to discharge.

The Eldar Black Guardian, squad’s 1 and 2 opened up with star cannons onto the behemoth Carnifex but only managed to inflict 2 wounds. Understanding that if this creature made it to their lines carnage would ensue. Contributing to the firing on the Carnifex the sleek vipers glided around one of the abandoned buildings into a better firing position and inflicted a wound from one of the bright Lances. The Farseer gathered his Psychic power and released power of mind war into the creature but failed to wound the Carnifex his mind being overwhelmed with the power of the Hive.. The Dark Reapers enhanced by guide from the second Farseer unleashed a torrent of missiles onto the lead element of Gaunts felling 8 of their number but still they pressed on oblivious to there fallen..

Due to the mountain range in the centre of the objective the Wraithlords and Avatar made their steady advance with the Warp spiders and Howling Banshees close to hand.

The Gaunts continued their advance with the first swarm on the objective, the second in close support The Geenstealers pealed off one unit spewed around each side of the mountain with a unit of Warriors near to each. The Carnifex continued the advance but the Hive tyrant moved cautiously around a large wood sensing the mind of the powerful Farseer.

The Carnifex again fired the barbed strangler but was unable to hit anything and all the other swarm beasts where bio engineered to hand to Hand configuration.

Now the elder guardians moved into position and rained down shurrican and star cannon furry onto the leading swarms. Gaunt swarm 1 on the objective was reduced to a yellow puddle of slime the Vipers finished of the wounded Carnifex which in its dying throws sent out a pitiful scream. Again the enhanced Reapers destroyed nine of the elite Geenstealers which had moved around the mountainous range.

Over to the left the Wraithlords used flame and fury and attacked Gaunt swarm 2 killing all but three. One of the Farseers from the Sear Council destroyed the empathic link of one of the Geenstealers with mind war and left it a quivering mass. The warp spiders used their ancient technology and warped into free space in front of the Geenstealers they loosed a fusillade of rapid fired when the cloud of filament wire cleared only 3 had fallen the Spiders activated their warp drives and disappeared to relative safety.

The assault was short lived as both of the Wraithlords attacked the Gaunts wiping them out and consolidated into the unit of Geenstealers, the howling banshees with over 26 power weapon attacks annihilated another Geenstealer unit and was poised for an attack onto a Zothrope
.
The Hive Tyrant gave empathically the recoil signal to the remaining swarm, only one Zothrope and 5 Warriors returned the call.

The Elder had received no casualties; this was indeed a reflection of the power of the Seer Council. Fandor the Farseer new it would not be long before the swarm returned and with more numbers and gave thanks to the Bloody Handed God for the victory.

This became a very one sided affair as the Nid player went for all out H to H. The Nid player never passed a armour save and his best fleet of claw move was 2”. We have both been playing war gaming for 20 years and this must have been the most unusual game we have ever had the experience of playing.

Nice.I like the narative style ofthe report (I prefer that format for mine).It makes it feel more like a proper battle with the ebb and flow of combat.
Id like to ask what were the feelings of the players post battle-good scrap or bodged tactics,what were their favourite moments etc?Was it really such a devastating victory to the Eldar?

The others in the club watched some of the game but they where also playing thers. The person playing Nids was wishing to try an all out HtoH he has now decided to take on a few venom cannons. The best part for me is when the Banshees attack I love seeing the Nid players face when no matter the initiative on charge the babes strike first gota love power weapons.
