Last Stand Style Game

My friends and I decided to play a game, but we had 3 players, and couldn't decide on a good way to play. We designed a custom senario. The Dark Angels were evactuating the last of the population on a contested imperial world. The taint of Chaos and the arrival of the Tau meant that the world was essentially a write off and after evacuating the last of it's citizens, the Imperial fleet would bobard the planet to rid it of xenos and chaos filth. The objective was simple. The Tau and the Black legion were to try to gain control of the space port before turn 6. The dark angels had to hold it. All players had 1500 points. Dark angels deployed first and got the first turn.

Tau took a rail head, a broadside, 3 combat suits, 2 sniper teams 2 units of fire warriors a load of sheild drones and marker lights.

Black Legion had 2 10X tacticals, Deamon prince, chaos lord, 10X blood letters, 3x bikes w/ meltas

My list looked like this:
Chaplin with jump pack, blades of reason and bolt pistol

2X 10 man tactical with heavy bolters, flamers and power fists

5x deathwing termies w/ 2 Ass-cans

1 venerable dreadnaught w las cannon, missile launcher and tank hunters

1 vanila dred

3x landspeeder tornado

1 whirlwind

1 pred anhilator w/ heavy bolters.

In hind sight it was mean f me to hold down in the space port and fire all those shots...

24 ass-can shots, 21 heavy bolter shots, 24-40 bolter shots, 2 twin linked Las cannon shots and a whirlwind pie-plate every turn was mean.

We played on a 4x6 table with tau and chaos on opposing sides, me in the middle in my spaceport. I pointed the pred, 1 tactical and the ven. dred at the tau, the 2nd tactical w/ chappie, the terminators, the vanila dred, and the raven wing speeders at the black legion. Whirlwind was placed in the center of the space port.

Anyway, turn 1 the Dark Angels destroyed 2 chaos bikes with Fire from the tornados, and took the deamon prince down to 1 wound with everything else. Whirlwind destroyed some black legion marines.The Ven Dred destroyed the Rail head.

The Tau managed to stun the ven drednaught. The pred. was stunned and had a heavy bolter destroyed. the chaos bike managed to destroy one assault cannon on a speeder. the Deamon prince charged into my dreadnaught and destroyed it's power claw.

Turn 2 the ravenwing speeders managed to destroy all but 1 marine in a chaos tactical. Only the icon bearer, who stubbornly refused to die, was left standing. The Chaplin managed to destroy the last chaos bike and fire from my combined forces shot the second chaos tactical squad. The deamon prince destroyed the dreadnought he was in close combat with. The stunned dreadnaught lurched into the command squad of the tau.

The Tau fired back, but failed to harm the preditor. they killed 4 marines. The dred killed 2 drones. The deamon prince charged the terminators, and killed 3 before being killed in turn. the Chaos icon bearer managed to summon the blood letter who were forced to rush the speeders (accomplishing nothing). The remaining tactical marines and chaos lord rushed the dark angels tactical squad, but were vanquished with ritgeous fury. Not a single Dark Angel Fell.

Turn 3 the dark Angels opened fire on the blood letters and felled all but one, who failed his instability test and returned to the warp. With tthe chaos threat neutralized, the dark angels turned all their firepower towards the Tau and managed to destoy all but the units in close combat. After witnessing this, the Tau Surrendered.

Result: Massacre for the Dark Angels! Although out numbered the Dark Angels had the Emperor on their side and neutralized the Chaos and Xenos threat, whilt only losing 3 terminators, 1 drednaught, a few vehicle armaments and 4 marines. It was a truly great day for the Imperium!

Awesome game what where the points values?

There faith protected them well but us space wolves could of done it without loosing a single guy.

but WOW thats an awsome game. you mustve been laughing your assault cannons off when you managed to wipe out a squad a turn.

I was lucky and unlucky... they don't want to play anymore...lol As for the Dark Angels, they were the first legion when the emperor began making the marines.

Perhaps offer to play the scenario again but this time switch roles and have one of the other forces play defender and another two attack then repeat so all forces have had to play defence!

Its somthing I always try to do. It allows both opponents to discover what the other went through and its nice to turn the tables on an assaulty army and make them defend of send the a shooty army storming forward!
Keeps you on your toes!(and can get rid of hard feelings as well)
