So kenshin620 and I had our first battle today. Being our first game, we forgot and misunderstood a few rules and steps, but we corrected it as we went along. He used his SM and karskin allies, and I used my chaos. We used the army lists from the topics we already put up if you want to look. So we started each on one side of a table and played an annilation match.

And about then, I forgot to take more pictures for awhile, but here’s about the gist of what happened: Kenshin used his krak missiles and sniper scouts to kill off some of my berserkers, chosens, and marines. I was busy trying to get my forces near to shoot, save for one shot of the battlecannon defiler, killing three assault marines (he had them kinda close…like base touching close). Then he came forth with his chimera and assault marines and jump pack chaplain to attack my berserkers and marines, killing off quite a few. Then he destroyed my defiler, taking out my vehicle while also blocking a passage, forcing my berserkers to have to go around it. Then my chaos lord advanced…to allow my terminators to deepstrike 6” from him (he had a personal icon). That’s about when the battle turned around into my favor. So a few losses of marines on both sides, assault marines, a few termies gone, and we had this:

I hid my berserkers behind my defiler to protect them from further missile and sniper attacks, but hindering their usefulness.

in about two more turns or so, I had decimated kenshin’s SM and then advanced on his chimera with my termies. Only one could hurt it, termie with a chainfist.


Now this is about what we had then. Kenshin then began to retreat his last squad of marines (offscreen) and karskin to try and regroup, but my berserkers were on their tail and assaulting and pretty much this is when kenshin saw that his karskins are crap. Termies are still trying to take care of the chimera, just stunned it so it couldn’t attack my berserkers. My last chosen and chaos lord are attempting to assault his sniper scouts, which started to hit less and less. Chaos SM are supporting with a heavy bolter.

About that time, Kenshin gave up. It was inevitable anyway. First battle though, so it doesn’t really count too much…cept he now knows he needs to get something to counter my termies.

-pinning
-cover save
-moving and shooting

I'd like to add that I forgot (yes I know I'm stupid) to bring my commander. Surprisingly The only squad to fail their ld test was the stormtroopers because they suck!!!!!!!!!

i don't think they suck they just didn't perform for you like they should have.

yes storm troopers do not "suck" in fact they asre very good, as i will explain in an upcoming tactica

your bezerkers shouldnt have been hindered by the defiler, because the defiler is faster then them. they both move 6'' but defiler has fleet!
so you can move 6'', fleet the defiler out of the way, then have the zerkers assault.

umm during like the 2nd turn a lucky krak missile destroyed the defiler making it a wreak

yeah, so then there's a piece of scenery blocking the way on the left of the defiler, and all my other forces were on the right of it, so my berserkers had to wait about three turns until my terminators, marines, and lord got out of the way. They saw less action than they should have, but they worked pretty well when assaulting.

Of course... my marines were LD 10 (master), and his 'nids were fearless!

The armor stuff really confused me for a long time...

Cover saves... only recently (well... I haven't played in FOREVER... so like... a couple months back) have I realized their usefulness... YOU CAN BE ON cover... who would have thought *slaps self*

Pinning... never really had to deal with it.

The three phases really messed me up though... I would constantly forget that you move all models, shoot all models, assault all models. Not move, shoot, and then assault with one squad... yes, I would do that.

Oh, and a question, your models seem a bit... strangely painted... are they pre-owned (used) models? The ones that are painted are nicely done, but its strange having lots of different colors (I guess...)

Oh, and the sniper pic was a bit blurry.

Edit: forgot to say... well done! We need more battle reports like this... maybe I'll do one when I get a chance go game with my friend...

None of our models are used, we painted them all. My brother's SMs were our first models, so we painted them as we liked to get the feel for it. And he hasn't settled on a color scheme yet, and even if he did, he said he has no motivation to paint, which is why about half of his karskin are still unpainted.

As for my chaos, I said I was doing a retrievers leigion, picking up troops from all the ones the other leigions and cults left behind, so of course everyone would have different schemes. If you look at some of the pics, you might recognize some of the color schemes as night lord, world eater, word bearer, and black leigion.
