| Yesterday I fought a 1000 point game with my latest army, a witchhunters Sisters of Battle army in a pick-up game at the Battle Bunker. The Daughters of the Emperor. Cannoness, combi-flamer, Power Sword, Litanies of Faith, Cloak of St. Aspira 110 pts Celestians with Vet. Sister Superior and Multimelta. bolters x 9 155 pts Sisters Squad w/ Vet. Sister Superior, Meltagun and Storm bolter, bolters x 8 139 points Sister Squad as above 139 points Retributor Squad w/ Vet Sister Superior, Heavy Bolters x 4, bolters x 6 174 points Exorcist 135 points Seraphim Squad w/ Vet. Sister Superior, inferno pistols x 1, flamers x 1, BP x3 Power Sword 155 points Total 1007 points Hive Vandal (I don't know the points totals, sorry) Hive tyrant w/ venom cannons, extended carapace, Warp Blast, talons Carnifex w/ extended carapace, Crushing Claws, Scything Tail, regenerate Genestealer Squad x8 with Rending claws and Scything Talons, Genestealer Squad x8 as above,(I think they also had extended carapace) Zoanthrope, synapse, warp blast Termagaunts x 10 Without number, Termagaunts x 10 without number, The mission was Seek and Destroy fought on a standard table with 9 buildings/ruined buildings and 6 rubble piles. The buildings split the board into 4 streets from left to right with two long streets running from short edge to short edge. The rubble piles were obstructions in the streets between buildings. Despite all the buildings, we didn"t play Cities of Death rules. We set up as normal, I shading my troops to the left, with the retributors set up in the center building upstairs, with my first squad on the ground floor. To their Left, My Cannoness and the Celestians were in the street in and behind a rubble pile, while my other squad was in the left building with the Seraphim. The Exorcist was parked behind the building on the left. My opponent set up opposite me, but his carnifex was over on the right. The Genestealers and Termagaunts were in the two buildings across from me on my left with the Tyrant behind one building and the Zoanthrope in the other. I had deliberately set up off to one side after his Carnie was deployed to try and move away from it. My plan was to shoot, shoot and shoot some more, relying on Divine Guidance to strike down my opponents. Since this was the first time out for the Girls, at least under my command, I had my Codex close at hand complete with sticky notes to let me find the appropriate pages. As usual, I lost the roll-off to see who goes first, and my opponent went first. His troops surged forward, fleeting during the shooting phase, while his Zoanthrope had some difficulty keeping up. Despite having move through cover, the Z only went forward 3 inches, not enough to clear the building he was in. His Tyrant opened fire on my Celestians, wounding 2 with his venom cannons, but luckily (for a change) I made both armour saves. His half of turn one ended with his center in danger of outstripping his synapse creatures, but no casualties. My turn consisted of crowding my Squads up to the front edge of the buildings and moving my Exorcist out of cover to shoot at his Tyrant. I rolled a 2 for missiles, one of which managed to wound the oncoming monster, then that was all for me. Turn two found him holding up in the buildings in the middle block of the table. He could not quite reach me, unless he got really lucky, so rather than relying on luck, he held his troops 7 inches from the edge of the buildings to prevent me from blasting them and hoped to rush me the next turn. In what turned out later to be an error of the worst magnitude, he forgot to move his Carnifex. Again, the only shooting was his venom cannons, this time at my Exorcist. He managed 5 hits and i was very concerned about what I was going to do with his Carnifex if my only Tank went Boom. despite all the hits though, only one shot managed to glance The Exorcist, stunning it. Thank Goodness for frontal armour 13. My turn began with me launching a risky move against his Termies and Genestealers on the far left flank. I vaulted my Seraphim across the street, landing them in the ruined building. 4 made the leap safely but one sister lost her footing on a bannana peel and fell to her death, leaving the survivors in range of the Front rank of genestealers. The Celestians and my Cannoness opened fire on the Oncoming Tyrant, it was my turn to bonehead one. Since I only managed five hits, I chose not to waste a faithpoint...of course, I rolled 3 sixes to wound. He made two saves and took a wound to his tyrant , but I'd have killed the monster had The Emperor blessed me with his Divine Guidance. My Seraphim rapped out 3 shots and a gout of flame, resulting in the death of four genestealers. I broke out the dice and charged. Thanks to the short range of the flamer and the inferno pistol, only 2 genestealers were in range of my assault. Going Simultaneously, since I had frags and was assaulting a unit in cover, My girls killed both engaged genestealers, without a scratch. but now I was stuck. In order to hit and run, at least some of my opponents had to still be engaged. I rolled a three for consolidation and pulled diagonally away from the fight, but there was no problem in guessing where his bugs would be heading next turn. Nobody else could do anything. Turn Three saw him charge his termies up towards my Seraphim, while his surviving Genestealers scampered after them as well. The Gaunts fired a volley, which wounded one sister, but she made her armour save. His other Flank moved out of cover and scampered into the street, His Gaunts opened fire on my retributors and managed to kill 2, but the genestealers could only make a puny one on the fleet roll which left them stuck in the street. His Tyrant fired at my Exorcist, but this time, to no effect, while his Zoanthrope missed with a Warp Blast on my retributors. In a savage flurry of attacks, his surviving genestealers charged into The Seraphim, as did his Termagaunts. While The Gaunts failed to do anything, the Genestealers killed 3 of the Seraphim , won combat, and slaughtered the last one as she attempted to flee. Two sixes allowed both units to consolidate out into the street. Now they were on top of my troops, and I had to shoot straight and well or there would be trouble. The Retributors cut loose on the Zoanthrope, the Sisters in the Basement targeted the Termagaunts on the right while the Celestians advanced to shoot at either the Genestealers or the Tyrant. My other squad would shoot the last genestealers on the left and I would simply Have to ignore the Termagaunts over there. The Exorcist, crew gathering their wits, would shoot at the tyrant. The Exorcist only scored one more wound on the Tyrant, which meant that the Celestians would have to shoot at them. I elected to have my Cannoness shoot at the Genestealers. Prayers to the Emperor were on everyone's lips, and the Emperor answered: Basically he said no. The Celestians Failed to make their roll For Divine guidance, as did the Retributors. However, the sisters rapid-firing at the genestealers on the left cut them both down, the Celestians killed the tyrant with their meltagun, and the cannoness killed three Genestealers with her Combi=Flamer. The Retributors managed a paltry 3 wounds on the Zoanthrope, who made all 3 Saves, while the sisters on the ground floor slaughtered the Gaunts in front of them, blasting them all with bolters. But being without number, they would be back the next turn. Now it was his turn Four. Desparate to avenge their fallen lord, the Termagaunts on the left scampered forward to place themselves in position to charge my sisters in the left building, his Carnifex continued to lumber forward--it would be in charge range on the next turn. The Surviving Genestealers moved to charge my Cannoness and The Celestians. The firing phase was short: The Gaunts fired. making 3 wounds on my sisters in the left building, who promptly failed 2 of them. The Zoanthrope missed again. Then, The tyranids threw them selves at their intended victims. My canonness used her litanies of faith to pop Spirit of the Martyr, and suddenly she and the Celestians were bathed in the Holy Grace of the Emperor. Their armor saves were now invulnerable. which as it turned out was a darned good thing. The Genestealers got three sixes to hit, and scored four more wounds as well, yet thanks to their abiding faith, the only wound scored was to the cannoness (despite having a 2+ invul save). With their holy Hatred of the unclean, the Celestians inflicted 2 wounds on the genestealers and the cannoness added another one. the Foul Aliens could only manage to save one of them. The Celstians piled in. Outnumbered, the surviving genestealers took two more wounds and another died. On the left, neither the termagaunts nor the sisters managed to do anything. On my half of the turn, I advanced my Exorcist to take up a position where it would be able shoot at the Carnifex when it came aroung the corner. I moved my sisters in the center building to help in the melee going on in front of them.while at the same time moving them ****her from the Carnifex. The retributors fired another 16 shots at the Zoanthrope and finally killed him. My sisters charged the Genestealers and Celestians. Four Fair Women warriors fell, but they managed to kill the last genestealers. the Termagants, deprived of the leadership of the Hive mind, Lost three of their number while only killing one sister, failed their morale check and fled from the righteous wrath of my second squad. We Called the game there. The only scoring unit left for him was the Carnifex. I think the problem for my opponent was a lack of models on the table. He had them way tooled up, but he had too few,and a 4th of his army was tied up in just the Carnifex and It never got into batttle. |

Blog Entries: 3 | Heh the mistake he had done was not take a flying Hive Tyrant, and he over upgraded on his FEX and Hive Tyrant while taking exspensive units like Genestealers and without number gaunts... A bit of a no-no there. But good job on your victory ![]() + Rep
