Default i dissagree with the thread 'next for necrons'

in the thread 'necron-redux' a guy recond that necrons should have gets hot weapons because they are so old and because they don't 'maintane their weapons. i totaly disagree. they may be old but they have been doing nothing almost all that time. The tomb spyders and the microscopic repair organisms (that surround the tomb spyders in the tombs) help maintane their weapons. The necrons self repaire anyway so their guns are going to be pretty much flawless. Also he was saying that necrons shouldn't self repair, i love that idea that they self repair, i absolutely love it. i couldn't imagine necrons without it. 4+ armore save, nah, there mayed of flippen regenerative metal for gods sake. and last of all i disagree with the rending idea, its not as good at taking down tanks as guass is. thats all. Oh and i am not trying to be nasty but i think i sound a bit nasty.

lmao a rant thread, hehe.
I think you are refering to our thread "Necrons: Redux" In the rules dev forum right?
well it's all a matter of personal opinion. I don't like the whole terminator "i'll be back / regen" thing, but that's just me.
Gauss weapons are essentially atom flayers right? something like that would be sort of like "distruptors" from star trek, and the process involved would be extremely volatile, and thus the overheating.
I tihnk what GW's done is basically make necrons mixed with so many things that they are not "necrons" any longer, they are "tooled up robot destroyers that come back" instead of "giant deadly horde from thousands of eons past that kills everyone (rending)"

Good point, but i haven't seen the last necron codex/rules/storyline so i see it from a very different perspective from you.

Eh either way,
rant ahead as long as you don't swear or flame xD
but if you ever want to try a different rules interpretation of necrons, check us out at the Necrons: Redux!

I agree that GW seem to have messed up the view of Necrons. Now they seem to be the Terminator with an atom flayer, rather than what they should be- Necrons. I like the rules in Necron: Redux.

I never said that Necrons shouldn't repair! Merely meant that the "Feel No Pain" rules works much more smoothly to represent the same thing as "We'll Be Back". WBB is to complicated with what happens to Necrons whose units got wiped out, but they weren't killed because they were "down" and waiting to "get back up". To complicated. Feel No Pain meant to represent the same mid-battle self-repairs, just is a more gamer-friendly way.

With Gauss weapons, there's really no advantage except for killing vehicles and really tough creatures. Since you can do that with rending, I figured that that was a batter way to represent that. But as I found out when I play tested this idea, that is so over powered, even Necron players themselves would feel guilty! So, I thought Gets Hot! would even that out a bit.

But, whether you don't like them or not, it really doesn't matter because in the end GW has the final say...

And they don't listen to the poor humble gamers like us who buy all their stuff.

i think its the players views that are askew of what GW intended rather than the other way round.

when necrons were first released in 2nd edition, they were T5 with a 2+ save (kep in mind that termies were 3+ on 2d6 back then - very different). so, while i think the idea circulating this site of the 4+ save necrons with feel no pain is very cool and a lot more characterful, i dont really think its what GW had in mind.

Their weapon, likewise was very powerful. and i like the idea of rending/gets hot though it still seems a lot to give to every trooper. and making the troopers weaker while making the weapon more powerful seems strange (thats what hrud are meant to be )

On Necron:Redux we are trying to make a more 'undead horde' like army rather than just another SM army. I like the rules, and after a bit of fiddling as we do more playtesting I think we can get them sorted.

i understand that 40k is space opera instead of conventional science fiction,
but even that has its limits *rolls eyes*

Personally I think the necrons are pretty balanced i mean look at their close combat stats the suck! so they have to have something to make up for it and all you need to do to stop their wbb roles is to use high strength or armour penetrating weapons some people blow there goodness way out of proportion and do not mention there flaws thus making sound unbalanced wehn they really are.

All I can say is i haven't played neccies in a while...i hated the old version, too over powered for me...when you have to spend 8-12 lascan blasts a turn just to take down a squad...and hope you get at least half that in hits...it just plain sucks...IMO
