| Hey, I'm posting for a friend actually... this person (he's actually registered here... he just hasn't posted in forever...) but anyways... he finally has the money to buy some 40k models, and wants to start with necrons. (either them or Tau, but he likes necrons more). We did some looking, and the battleforce seems to be any amazing deal (its easily over 500 pts... and all you have to do is throw in a lord to have a army you can play with right from the get go!). So... suggestions on what to get... or anything in general.

| Extremis Diabolus ![]() ![]() | Warriors should be the first priority. After you've got two decent-sized squads (12-15), then some Destroyers or Wraiths for mobility. Might want to consider a Destroyer Lord because then he can get the prerequisite Ressurection Orb all over the place quickly. After that, Monolith. Easily the best vehicle in the game (mostly because it's points cost is low for what it can do).

| i'd look at scarab swarms over wraiths in all honesty. the wraiths are really one of those 'great on paper' units. if you take them, then you need at least 2 full squads due to their small numbers & the fact that they are "necrons". most seasoned players know to target your small specialist units like destroyers/wraiths and down them asap as their few numbers can easily stop them from getting their WBB roll... same deal goes for destroyers; if you take 'em, take at least 2 squads of 4 so that your opponent has as hard a time as possible trying to take them all down in one go. as for what to get; - warriors - more warriors - immortals - even more warriors! ![]() - monolith! as for the secret to the monolith's true power; teleport. and teleport some more! combined with a viel of darkness, you can pull upto 2 units/turn out of any assaults they might be in! cheers!

| i would stick with 30-40 warriors. then maybe immortals and destroyers. gotta have the monolith. scarab swarms are cool. a necron lord doing the veil of darkness with a 10 man squad of immortals can put the hurting on almost any unit. gotta have a large number of necrons due to the if suckie phase out rule. nothing worst then almost breaking your opponent but he wins cause he killed that last necron needed to phase out. the destroyer lord on the body is useful cuz it allows your lord to be toughness 5 so you don't have to worry about catching a rocket to the teeth and losing your res orb. and bring a god. just because you can. there is no other reason for it. just because you can. |

Blog Entries: 2 | Actually there si a reason to bring a C`Tan, just to watch it being transformed into a chaos spawn via gift of tzeench ![]() But seriously... The core of a small army: Lord NW ~ lots IM ~ a couple When he gets more $$ he HAS to buy a `Lith because it`s just crazy. And it also helps the army a whole lot with teleport and such. I once killed a maxed out squad of marines with just 3 destroyers and a few lucky rolls ![]() I won`t lie, destroyers are great fun, but the their range advantage will pale after the first turn if the enemy is prepared. A squad of them could still be used to pick up annoying enemies though, it`ll all up to him. So basicly: * Lord for RESURECTION ORB (veil of darkness is an added bonus) * Lith for TELEPORTing your army * Warriors so you don`t PHASE OUT The rest is strictly up to preference. I`d go for Immortals and Scarabs ![]()
