| Corporal ![]() | so I am a avid gaurd player at me moment but wanted something else I was thinking necs here is what I was going to buy the necron battleforce which comes with 28 Necron Warriors, 7 Scarab Swarm Bases and 3 Necron Destroyers I am also getting a Necron Destroyer Lord for my HQ and 3-5 Necron Destroyers and for my elites a squad of 5 Necron Pariah and maybe 5 Necron Immortals im also going to field Necron Monolith and 2 Necron Heavy Destroyer I was also thinking about getting more troops maybe annother box of warriors and one Necron Wraith I know this is a lot but I am getting a insurance settelment soon and my goal is to compleate my gaurd and get annother army I am buying it all at once and putting it togeather over time as a project army. my question is, because I have never seen the necron codex, is there something I should have that is not on my list or is there something on my list i'll never use in all likley hood. like forinstance if there is only one imortal in a group I need not to get 5

| I know this may seem old school for necrons, but warriors, warriors and more warriors. They are very resilient and the guass weapons can rip through anything including land raiders. They may be a bit slow, but a lord with a veil of darkness takes care of that real quick. Phasing out necrons is easy if there are not a lot of "necrons " in the army. Pariahs are awesome, but do not count as a necron for phase out purposes, so limit the units that are not necrons.

| Your right on that one, but they don't really need them. That veil can pull a unit that is in combat out of it in there own movement phase and than shoot the livin ______ out of them during the shooting phase. "close combat......what close combat" That is a nasty tactic that I have come to fall victim to far to often, with my dark eldar.

| Try to avoid the "close combat" units in the army, with the exception of the Scarabs. Scarabs are excellent for tying up tough assault units, and the disruption field upgrade makes them awesome against armor. The other cc units though, not so much of the good feeling. They may look great on paper but, they are no match for any other armies cc units, the only exception is Tau. The unit size is the main drawback of the Wraiths, and the Pariahs are slow, expensive, and don't count towards phase out. Oh, Wraiths and Flayed Ones don't have any ranged weapons which is another drawback. Shooting is what Necrons are best at, so get lots of Warriors, Destroyers, and Immortals. The gauss weapons and the high strength and AP of the gauss cannons and blasters make shooting against Marine and especially non-Marine armies hurt. The high toughness of the Immortals and Destroyers, combined with the We'll Be Back roll, make them very tough to destroy. Your list will end up looking like the rest of the Necron lists out there, but not all people play them the same. Some people go with the Veiled Lord with Destroyers to get any spot on the table very quickly. Others like to try out the phalanx, and slowly advance laying down a hail of fire. I prefer to let my opponent "dig in" or "get into position", then zip my units around with the Veil and the Monolith. The expected result is to crush the end of the opponents line, with Warriors and Destroyers on one side and a Monolith, Immortals, and a Lord on the other, and then roll up the opponents battle line. Actual results vary... Anyway, hope any of that helped

| For a 1.5k list your army should look something like this: Necron Lord... however you want Some sort of elites, Immortals are good 30+ Warriors As many scarabs as you have... 3 Destoryers 1 Monolith I don't think a Destroyer lord is too good of an idea... at 1.5k I can see it, but not at any lower... if you have a destroyer lord you will have to go to a smaller army which can be a bad thing... less models... less room for error. My suggestion is to have LOTS of warriors, backed up by scarabs, destroyers, a Monolith, a Lord and maybe some immortals... after that... add whatever you want... but thats a 1.5k+ list as it is.
